I've been out of recording for a few years. I have a Lynx one sound card.
Is this still up to standards with today's audio recording? If not what is the best out there?

In the box, the LynxII is as good as it gets. Out of the box, Apogee and up is considered the high end.

Your Lynx One still holds up pretty well however.

Lynx is still making the best in the box A/D/A converters on the market as far as I know. They have the Lynx II now, which is better, but the Lynx I is still very respectable. In order to beat it you would have to get some rackmounted out of the box converters like Apogee, Mytek, Benchmark, or Lavry, but these units aren't really considered "soundcards" just stand alone converters. I wouldn't be in any hurry to upgrade if I were in your position. Anything really noticably better is going to cost you a lot of bones.
