I could see some people singing better in the morning, as voices tend to be deeper when you first wake up. I'm not one of them, though. Afternoon for me, although I usually record past midnight.

It depends on my uncontrollable voice...and allergy season...and whether I ate ice cream for breakfast or chewed on some chamomile laced with honey :D But in reality world...Morning is the worst...afternoon okay..but evening kicks...providing I have not spent the day rattling on and on to someone..or screamed at my kids...and drank hot grease right outta the pan... Yep , Evening wins hands down...HEY...I LOVE THIS FORUM..I can rattle on and on without straining my voice....
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

For me, its always been around say 2pm, if i woke at 9am, lets your voice warm up, and take its usual shape. Gotta do a few warm-ups to get it ticking first though ;)

Depends, I'm a night person, but since I don't have a vocal booth or soundproofed room, that's not really an option... so I'd say somewhere in the evening I gues... night can cause some other problems too...
Like if you get tired...trying to follow your lyrics can get a bit harder :D

I chose "it doesn't make a damn bit of difference" because I can't sing for shit no matter what time of day it is...

Don't be so hard on yoursellf; you sound better then Jesse "the Legend" Garcia :D

i'd have to say after midnight, it takes a while to get a good buzz going, and i just have this thing about drinking first thing in the morning...it tends to lead to either vomiting or passing out by nightfall...

Fuck afternoon delight, I am a creature of the night

Yea, late night mixing has become my thing as well. Stupid neighbors keep complaining about the noise.

Yeah, but who doesn't?

Gotcha there, don't I? :p

Best to track them in the aternoon so that you can fix them in the evening.

It shouldnt matter really. All singers should spend at least 45 minutes warming up(bigger/deeper voices may take longer, it often takes me 1 and 1/2 hours)
As long as you have rested well(which is key to being a good vocalist, no matter WHAT music you sing, )you should be good to go all day.. I would avoid late at night, after 10pm or so. Most folks have been talking all day, and the vocal cords are muscles just like any other muscle. Cofee is horrible for the cords, completely dries them out(but is good for chest congestion) Tea in small doses is good(but also can dry them out) the best solution is warm water with a bit of honey and lemon. No cigarettes. :)

my vote is any time after 5 am and BEFORE 10 pm .

I rap, and i find that early mornings on my off days when the wife & kids are out
I can get really drifted in my mix if I sip a shot of liquir and smoke a joint
I can track vocals all day and get an amazing emotional tone in my voice
that really accentuates my track & delivery.
yup!

I find that I really make the best recordings right when I wake up, and before I go to bed. Usually at around 8 AM - 10 AM and from about 9 PM - Whenever I contacts start to get really dry.

im in the army and we have this thing called cq(charge of Quarters) its a 24 hour shift.

try singing after you havent had any sleep for about 18 to 24 hours it is amazing how well i sound with no sleep compared to any other time...

i guess maybe its because i vocal cords are loose from being used for hours and hours wiht no break...

I'd like to say "afternoon/evening 'cause you've given your voice a chanec t owarm up", but htat would be a lie. It takes a bit of motivation/moeny for me to get up before 1400 h....

But seriously, afternoon/evening is usually better. You've had a chance to talk and breath and everything's working.

I also find that port helps more than straight spirits

after dark

None of the above poll options. After the sun's gone down. In the winter it's longer....summer shorter. Anywhere from 7 or 8pm to 5am. sometimes I think music should only be played at night....except on Sundays. Any day of the week and any time of day at moments of special celebration and/or inspiration. Or if someone throws a twenty in your hat. I'm sure alot of you have heard the Indian idea of morning ragas and evening ragas etc. just an opinion that could change tommorrow. What was that Walt Whitman quote about contradicting oneself?.
.....if I do...I do....so be it....I am a multitude of things or whatever...I forget,
anyhoo.....I prefer after dark. kk
