Best sounding Delay/Echo pedal for live rig?

I am using a Boss DD-3 right now, and am looking for more of an "Echo" sound than a digital delay repeat - but longer than what is considered a reverb. I don't think that I am necessarily looking for an analog type delay, I've owned a DM-2 before and that is really not what I am after either. Just something that sounds more "roomy" or ambient sounding than a regular slap back type delay. Something on the lines of this example (small file, 191kb):

Anyone know if I can get this type of effect with a pedal, or if not, which rack unit?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the Danelectro Dan-Echo? I have one of them, and I really dig it.

i dont know if its the "best" pedal out there - but i had a boss dd20 which I liked a lot for sound and versatility ... also - a point to bear in mind - this is a ver "practical" pedal that you can really use LIVE (you can store 4 of your own presets)

not very much to improve on the dd20 - and lots of features ... the price is high, tho!

I just got my Ibanez AD-9 analog delay. I had one as a kid, and lost it somewhere along the line. Probably loaned it to a friend, who's still loving it.

300 ms delay is maybe too short for what you described, but you can get some really ambient roomy sounds out of this thing - and the repeated notes are sooo warm.
