I'm recording at my house and I'm looking for the best sound card under 200. Spending $100 would be ideal for me but I'm willing to put out $200. I mostly use cakewalk guitar tracks pro to record but I also have nuendo which I rarely use. Thanks!

If you are looking at about $100, try the audiophile 2496, it will give you 2 analog inputs. I have been using one for about 9 months and it has worked flawless. I will be recieving my new Delta 66 today in the mail. I spent $190 on it. If gives me 4 analog inputs. I will let you know how it goes, but everyone on the boards give both of these cards very high marks.

yes, Audiophile2496... pro stuff for $99! :)

I've been using mine for 3 years.... was $180 back then....

if you cann afford spending 200something ... my advise would be:

- behringer ADA8000
- Terratec EWS88D

you go OUT from the berry via digital ADAT Lightpipe and into the Terra card ... you enter your computer with light, so there wil def. not be any signal degradation.

This also gets you 8 mics/line ins w/ phantom power and a decen AD-DA converter. (same as the Alesis AI3)

... it can be done at around 250 bucks and I feel its sooo much more than the audiophile 2496 card (w/out knocking it)

basically it all depends on how much/often you are going to use your system, but if you plan to use it quite a lot - I´d go this route - you WILL be happier !

bye alfred

i was considering the behringer ada myself but i am leary about an 8-channel preamp being so cheap. I'de rather go with the octane by m-audio but i would be open to some reviews of the behringer. On a similar note, i would think the A/D converters of the audiophile are much better than that of the behring but i dont' know for sure.
