Greetings,
Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section.
I've always been opposed to using a computer for recording because it seems like cheating (i.e. pitch correction, and automatic harmonies, etc). But I'm tired of using a Yamaha AW16G and staring at the little tiny LCD screen. I'd like to start using digital recording software and buy a dedicated computer for recording. I want to be able to record about 16 tracks of audio, no more than a few tracks at a time, and I want to be able to adjust EQ and dynamics (noise suppression and compression) for each track. Effects would be a plus, but aren't essential.
The trouble is... Trying to learn about what is needed in terms of software and computers is an absolute mess. There seem to be a gazillion types of software, hardware, and plug-ins. Where the hell do I begin?
