What do you mean, "best"? Prettiest? Most versatile? Highest SPL rating? Least likely to break if you look at it sideways?

There is no "best" mic. There is only the most appropriate mic for a particular application, given your bugetary constraints and in context with the quality/condition of your instruments, the talent, your experience, and the room you are recording in.

So yeah, AndreiR has it right.

There are hundreds of microphones out there, and each of them has a specific purpose.
What are you trying to do with a microphone?
What's your budget?
Again: be more specific.

Sorry guys I meant best as in great sounding and I wanted a vocal mic
I already have a couple of 57s and they're great for putting in front of my amp but not so great for vocals. Thanks

Lukey, honestly, I feel there's no such thing as a great vocal mic in that range. Great - even OK - vocal mics are typically going to be a lot more than that. And even then, there's no guarantee that any single one is what your voice wants/needs.

That said, you could try the MXL V67 like Supercreep says, It's not a horrible mic for the price range. Or maybe the AT 2035 might fit your voice better, You gotta try to know for sure, though.
