lol I just subscribed to TapeOp and Recording. Tape Op is the only decent recording mag, right?

Don't mean to bring this thread back up... but I didn't want to clutter the boards with a second one...

It seems I've been out of the loop on recording magazines for years... but i have subscribed to TapeOp. There used to be a magazine called Home Recording. I don't see it anywhere. Is it gone? I see Recording magazine and I know Sound on Sound. Does SOS still give you free samples and trial software and effects and stuff on their CD's with each mag? Or is that a thing of the past? Also its pretty expensive.. UK version is $135 for one year and the US version is $99 I believe for two years.

I'd like to get back in the loop a little bit... so what do you think? Mix? Recording (seems to resemble the old Home Recording Magazine), and/or SOS (US or UK)?

Are there any mags I can download to my IPAD? Preferably for free?

Almost all of the mags are digital email forms now. Mix comes to my email box every month. But a paper rag is good to take on the road or read while on the toilet etc.

SOS is excellent, but does not normally have CDs/DVDs with them.

They do an e-sub for electronic version only.

If you want to see it for free you have to wait several months, I think they are unlocked three or four months after publication for free viewing on the web.
