Ah, yes. Chad Wackerman's drums on the CD mix of "The Man From Utopia" are truly awe-inspiring in places. I especially like the BIIIG floor tom on "Cocaine Decisions". Too bad the album itself isn't that good. Ah, Zappa, why must thou be so fickle?
In cronological order-as I heard them for the first time
Phill Rhudd-AC/DC-Rocker...Roller...inspired me to play.
John Bonham-all of it is great-what a deep groove!
Nick mason-pink floyd, live at pompei(sp?)
Nirvana's nevermind album
Tim Alexander-Primus(frizzle fry)
Randy Guss-Toad the wet sprocket(fear)
alas the list goes on.... Tool and morphine are truly great...
I tend to favor raw unprocessed sounds like that of Snot and Step Kings. Older sounds that I like mimic that same desire for a natural minimalist recorded sound; Zepplin, Who.
I love the drums on Snot's album. In-yer-face and tight sounding. Another kit sound that I think about that I really, really liked that you may or may not have heard are Vision Of Disorders drums on their self titled cd.
