I respect Harvey's opinion and would like to hear what he thinks about Alan's comments... Hey Harvey, are Alan's comments both valid and uninflammatory? What's the facts?
Well, let's all take a look at exactly what Alan said:DJL said:Hey Harvey Gerst, are Alan's comments both valid and uninflammatory? What's the facts?
The first sentence would appear to be a statement of fact. It sounds like Alan knows the owner and the owner told Alan he uses several factories to make the mics. I have no reason to believe Alan is being untruthful.Alan Hyatt said:According to the owner, he uses several factories.
Sounds like Alan is saying he doesn't understand why the owner is using several factories to make the mics in the product line.Alan Hyatt said:Why I do not know.
Here, he clearly state that this is his opinion, and (in my opinion), it is difficult in dealing with far East companies, as I found out when I was Director of Electronics at IMC. Quality Control was the number one problem. Fortunately, we only dealt with a few companies and we had people from IMC actually living there for several months each year to check QC.Alan Hyatt said:Using more than one presents QC issues IMHO.
Alan is offering an opinion that the factory mics appear to be identical, but then adding that he doesn't really know for sure. I think that's pretty clear.Alan Hyatt said:Scroll through the products. You will see several of the same mics that Red 5 offers. Does he make changes...only his hairdresser knows for sure...
If that is your definition of "PMI Audio slaps the competition again", then you and I have very different concepts of what "slapping" is.Alan Hyatt said:If he wishes to post here, he can answer your questions better than I can.
In either case, the Red 5 mics are nice. I am biased, but then you would expect me to be...
I also just remembered that the SE guys told me that they would loan any of their mics to you for a 10 or 12 day (forgot which) trial period so you can check them out before you buy. This is in the UK and the US. I didn't ask about the warranty.Flatpicker said:I spoke to some folks at Summer NAMM last weekend from SE Electronics.

Just to head off a potential therealanhyatt said:most of these kinds of mics {FEILO mics, not all Chinese-made ones}sound pretty similar. This includes the lower cost ADK's, SE's, Marshalls, T Bones, and the Joemeek JM47.

Vikki said:Did have a ring around yesterday and no one seemed to have any c4's in the uk.

How about posting the street address for those of us who live in the Phoenix area.NL5 said:BTW, they are Brick and Mortar as well.

Just noticed on the Thomann audio sales site looks like some of the T Bone range is made by SE.
Did have a ring around yesterday and no one seemed to have any c4's in the uk.
Thanks
