alright u rap/hip hop peeps what mic is good 4 rap?

a USB 1 preferably, but any that will fit in2 a computer is good enough :)

LOL, there's no best mic for rap. Why does everyone ask that? Son, it depends on for one, what kind of vocalist are you, where your frequencies sit etc, and then match it up with a microphone's responses. Along with researching the mic, and how it works to know what you need.

I personally like the U-67, at around $10,000, great sounding mic, and expensive to fix. Change got me fixed on a mic that's $6k? Interchangeable basically. The world's gone mad Change...

USB ones suck, you'll get sup par conversions, your signal wouldn't be routed through gear that colors sound, and gives it a certain sound, USB is known to sometimes drop signal, there's countless reasons not to go USB...

What's your price range?
Is your vox more high pitched or lower?

well Im new to all this music recording n stuff.

All I've done so far is write up lyrics, init? Now I want a mic n that to actually record ma music.

I aint spending over £50 on a freakin MIC lol

you should be able to grab a really good mic for $100 - $300. i got mine for $70, but have been told it's the bottom of the stack. MXL 990. it's a good "started mic". i'd like to upgrade sometime. i think a better sound card comes first tho.

ah, screw it, maybe i'll just save for a new car and a house before i worry about all this other stuff, lol.

£50, that's, what? $100-125USD?

check any MXL mics... like i said, i have the 990, Change uses (used?) the Mogami.... but don't go usb. sounds attractive, but it's a bad decision.

EDIT: maybe not the 990 if you've got a higher voice, or a lot of "Esses" in your speech. k? k. ;)

Then, you'll got to look at if he gots any gear first off, cause if not, he's going to need a preamp, and good interface...

in that case, research Berringer (spelleing?). i never used any of there stuff, but a ton of people do, and it's very cheap.

You really gotta do some SERIOUS research on Behringer. Some of their stuff is pretty good (for home studio starter gear). Some of it isn't worth the box it's packaged in.

I also disagree with USB. The only thing I could see using USB for with equipment is midi controllers, because you're only transferring midi signal, not raw audio. Anything that has to do with vocal signal and USB is no bueno IMO.

Fiev.

errrrrrrr well.. down to the earth, can I do somethin (as a starter rapper)..like record on ma pc mic for practice and mix wit ma own beats so dat I can check if it fits? and now the vox are really a crap. ma room echoes, mic, all those. so can i just use software to enhance dat a lil bit..? like reducin the ehoes a bit..?? or are you guys sayin dat I must buy a mic fo practice?

yall be killin me blood,

This will be a major upgrade compared to what you have but if this is too much $, then just stick with what you got because anything cheaper then this will not be worth the cash...

hey that was great info JohnnyP. Well, I think what u guys said s true. If I cant afford some basics, I d betta stick wit what I have now till I save up..plus Imma do some local research on that too. I think I might be able to get some quality thangs wit cheaper rates. If so why would I pay heavy..also I can only think of buyin these international brands if I have that kinda income level of ma own... Student fo now(Chartered accountancy student tryin to hook up wit hip hop..lol. will take some time) So gotta finish dat stuff and I ll defenitely be thinkin of buyin shure s and m audios man..thanx alot fo ur support. I m collectin info right now. thanx again..

Gutiar center had a special mxl 990/991 and a audio buddy for $99.

Not the greatest but the 990 goes for 70 bucks by itself so you could have a cheap starter set.
Ebay the 991 and the audio buddy when your ready to get a better pre you should get close to what you paid then you can buy dm3 or sumthin in that range.
