Best mic for...

I realize the B1 and B3 aren't identical, but they're simlar. Based on what I've heard with my B3s, they wouldn't be anything I'd recommend. They're pretty harsh sounding. I use them for table mics on video shoots where they can't do much harm, but otherwise, they sit in a case.

couldn't agree more, I never understood the endorsements, I did like the old C1's, before the "extras" were added. and I love the T3 with a new tube.

For the record, moresound, we are good, let's move on......Y (your) M(mileage) M(may) V(vary) = IMHO

Cool ............now for the money is there a better multi than the KSM 44 that you have ran into or heard of... in your humble Opinion.

And what does the 32 have over the 44?

Like I said, I like the T3 for a multi and the bonus is the tube vibe. I don't think the 32 is better than the 44, just don't see much difference for the $, if you need a multi, then the 44 is a good idea

OK great now you have sparked my interest our studio has not one studio project mic in the mic locker room, I've been thinking about them in the past but other mic purchases have always bumped them down the list, I think its time to get one.

Tell me some of the different things you've done with it and where it shines

which new tube did you install,where do I get the tube and did you do the install of the tube-how easy is it?

Tell me more about how the 32 was better than the 87

I thought that the womans voice sounded much better with the KSM32 than the u87...but with a voice like mine Id have to flip the results...her voice was very operatic...something that didnt need the hyped high end to flatter her and it just made the track seem less likely to fit in a mix.

Alright I see where your coming from with this ..The right mic for the right job so as to not have to correct it in post production. Now when a similar situation should arise I'll remember what to reach for first thanks to you.

Sorry about the delayed response I had a busy work week.
Anyway I'm looking at a budget of around 200-400 (The high end depends on if my singer goes in on it with me).
Doing more research and talking it out it seems a better investment would be a decent pre amp as apposed to dropping money on more expensive microphones. I actually already have the SM 57 (as said earlier, the swiss army knife) and the SM 58.
This is my first time establishing my own home studio as all the other professional/home studios I've worked in already had the mid to high end gear there!
My biggest thing is I don't want to spend 350 bucks on an SM7b if I don't have the appropriate pre amp to match, and so on.
It seems now since the 58 is the biggest win, that it would be more appropriate to purchase a pre amp rather than a better mic?

PS. About the SM 57 not being a condenser... I actually just learned that the other day. We always used it on cabs, snares, even vox sometimes and I never knew! I just assumed... opps.
