Best Freeware Guitar AMP sim?

Hi. I'm not a guitarist so I would really appreciate some help and experience from guitar and bass players on this.
Which of these free amp sims would you say is the most authentic/best all round amp sim?
I need something that is capable of producing nice jazz guitar sounds, 70's funk rhythm, rock, lead, pop and grunge etc. Basically as many different styles as possible.

If there are any other better free amp sims please could you post them below.

Also I would really appreciate hearing about your experience with the plugin and some info as to why you like it.

Ive only ever tried the simulanalog amp sim.
Its by far the most real sounding amp sim Ive tried.
ACtualy can sound like a real Marshall amp!!

I've never been able to get a good heavy/distorted sound out of an amp sim. But for clean tones, the SimulAnalogue Suite is perfect. On my guitar, it sounds better than any amp I've run it through (but then again I don't own any boutique amps).

Only tried the boogex and didnt really like it. How good can free amp sims be? Im interested in seeing if there are any people faithful to these free amp sims.

Thanks for your replies so far. I've tried most of these but want to know what guitarists think of these. I don't play guitar so don't have any experience of real world amps.
My favourites were Simulanalog Guitar Suite and Freeamp2 (not listed because of update which I've not been able to try because studio computer is down). I'm looking forward to trying FreeAmp3 when I'm up and running again. I also quite liked Boogex, Dirthead and Studio Devil BVC.
I've not personally tried Juicy77, Crunchdude or MDA Combo but have heard a lot of good stuff about Juicy77.

It'd be even better to hear clips from people who say they like <XXX> amp sim. I can post some as soon as I can buy some more strings for my electric, the high E string broke.

free has nothing to do with it. "You get what you pay for" doesn't correspond exactly in DSP, because most algo's are something someone ELSE has paid for

The preamp dynamic behaviour of the simulanalog jcm900 is ridiculously realistic. A lot closer to the behaviour of a real tube preamp than you would get with someone putting a transistor pedal in front of a real one any day.

Back off on the guitar's volume knob and it will clean up as it should, most modern tube amps cant even claim that!

I think this will do in the meantime until I can post one of my own clips.

Holy crap - I totally didn't realize there were that many freeware amp sims...thanks for the list.

I'm going to go on a downloading/experimentation frenzy now and I'll vote in your poll when I'm done. I hope at least one of them doesn't suck....

Sounds like a real amp! Sounds much better then my Marshall JCM2000 DSL50.
You can kind of hear a fake-ness in the high end of some notes although could be the MP3 conversion.
Nice round low end, and smoothish high mids, but very present.

Yeah. FreeAmp 3 looks to be really good. I'm still unable to try it until my computer is up and running again. There is also going to be an update for FreeAmp 3 within the next few days.

Thanks again for the replies and info. When my computer is fixed I want to install fewer but quality free plugins onto my computer! I'm looking to install 3-4 of these Guitar plugins. I originally had 6 of these installed and stacks of free guitar fx/pedals.

Yeah, I get almost the same tone from my Yamaha Strat copy through the same setup, but not quite as good (and my playing isn't nearly as good as his ).

He sent me an FX preset for Reaper if any Reaper users wants me to upload it somewhere. It uses a couple of additional, but free, plugins like MyMag and GlaceVerb although you can still get the same sound without those.
