I know on the low end there is the Sceptre X7 that I have...I think it is about $280. 17".

Good luck on this and your new Dawbox!

Cheers,

wow, i havent seen a 17" for less than $400. i will check it out!
there are a lot of brands i have never even heard of.

the hills are alive with the sound of griswold!!!

Sorry, that should have read $380, but still, under four bills...

Cheers,
C

i would prefer a 17" but it is not a requirement. i dont know shit about reading the specs of a monitor to tell if its good or not.

I got some 17" ADI A704 a couple weeks ago.. Thought they had a really nice picture. Came with little built in speakers, and had reeally good luminance/refresh/contrast specs. They run $380-400.

what does contrast ratio and refresh time mean?
i see some have a 500 to 1 ratio and others have a 400 to 1 ratio. what is better?
and is a 15ms refresh time better than a 25 ms time??

Higher contrast ratios mean brighter screens and more contrast between dark and light pixels.

You want lower refresh numbers. The higher the number, the more ghosting you will get on the screen with anything moving on it.

so a ratio of 500:1 is better than a ratio of 350:1 right?

and what is a good refresh time? 25ms??

25ms are the highest I've seen. You can do better.
