Best firewire interface 24bit for laptop

I will be using it for production dj tables/synth/mpc/sound modules with mackie onyx. I have a PC now. Later a MAC but not now. WHAT is the best bang for buck? nothing for 1k that sound like a interface for$300

I've used many versions of the Mac throughout the years and always cringe when I come into a new studio and see that they have a Macintosh set up because they're never up to PC standards in memory or processing power, always a year behind the latest plugins and usually running the dread 'protools'.
