Hi, I'm in a Metal Band based in the UK, we had an old demo that was recorded and mixed really badly, by myself.

We have a studio locally, the only one for a long distance, but I have heard that they are very bad at mixing, it is the only place we can really go for recording, so... What we are planning to do is record the tracks at the studio and find someone else to mix it for us.

Any recommendations for studios who do 'remote' mixing, i.e. I send them CDs with the tracks on.

I have been in touch with Ken at www.protoolsmixing.com, he seems to provide a great service, but charges $500 per song, which may be a bit over our budget, if we can get the money together we may get him to do it though.

It will probably be at least a few months before we have the tracks ready to be mixed but I thought it would be best to look early as oppose to later.

Thanks in advance
Simon

My studio offers such services - click the WWW button...!

Hi,
Although I didn't mention you above, I have actually already checked out your website, seems a really good rate. Do you have any example material for me to listen to, doesn't matter if it's not the same genre.

Thanks
Simon

ah, I must have missed that page.

I'll have a listen and probably be in touch nearer the time.

Thanks again
Simon

You can also hit me up on MSN messenger if that's easier.... PM me for the address....

HA-ha!

Whatever BlueBear quotes you I will do it for 30% less. I've got Tubes for a lush warm sound and BlueBear uses all that tinny digital crap. :D

i will do it for half because i use N-Track and i suck at mixing......besides, all the magic is done in mastering........

I love the pass on the buck to the next guy comments... :)

If he quotes me 'FREE' does that mean you'd pay me? On a serious note do you have any samples I can listen to?

It's still probably a few months away, as the songs are not quite perfected yet and we have to book time in the only 'studio' for about 50 miles, oh and the drummer and guitarist are at university 200 miles away!

Thanks
Simon

While I'm here, has anone had experience with Ken at www.protoolsmixing.com, he has quoted me $500 for each song (upto 32 tracks), which is a flat rate, and he will tweak it as much as you like.

He has worked with a lot of 'famous' acts and seems to be using this as a way of charging 5x more than other people. Is he likely to be much better than anoyone else. I mean I realise that mixing is an art, but is his mix going to be that much different to someone else? I'm sure you get the idea!

Thanks again
Simon

I'll pay you twice as much as he will...

In food stamps.

I think it will be better if you record the tracks first. And find someone who will do a demo mix of about 30 to a minute of a song for you for free. This will let you get an idea on whos mixing style you like better before you start coughin up cash.

I think its extremely important to have a person mix the way you like it to sound.

I offer my services also. If you are interested PM me and i will send you some short samples, and we can discuss pricing.

Danny

I'd offer to do that... And I'm sure these guys will too.

Let'd just have another mixing contest . . .

or how about we don't?
