Just save up and buy a RNC, otherwise search ebay for compressors for under $100.00.

save a measly 70.00 more dollars and get the world famed FMR's RNC! This will be the LAST compressor you will ever buy period! Anything better you would probably end up in a quarter million dollar studio! It IS worth every penny. I got mine last week, totally awesome and its a R-eal N-ice C-ompressor too!

where can you get the rnc for 170? On their site, they are selling it for 199

Quit dogging the composer, alright!

I have one and it's one of my favorite pieces of gear.

i have the Autocom for $79.....i could have went for the RNC at $175 but the $100 saved got my daughter in Disney World a few days.......

get what you can afford:

$79 - Behringer Autocom
$99 - Behringer Composer
$175 RNC

I think I'll go with the RNC...the only thing is that I heard it sucks for bass and bass drum and I was thinking this was what I would mainly use it for. Is this true???

As usual, Gidge-mo comes thru on the money!!!

For cheap I like the ART Levelar something like 70.00, nice little opto type..Good for limiting and lite compression

No...not true. For bass and bass drums I like to use a DBX 163 or 166 but that's only because I like the "color" of them for those applications in MY music.

The RNC is super clean, that's all....and in fact can handle anything you throw at it!

from personal experience I can say a Behringer Composer isn't half as bad as some people would like you to believe it is... It does - within limits - a really good job for what it costs, and it's fairly sturdy gear as well (as opposed to most other "dead cheap" rack units from Alesis, Art and the likes). Just my $ 0.02

"Behringer composer if you can't afford anything else"...

erm...the composer is actaully a pretty good compressor! i dont know why people are saying to avoid it. have you used it? sure it's not the best, but i have sometimes used a composer OVER something more expensive. i personally dont think it's a bad compressor at all.

so, are you guys saying the composer is better than the RNC because I am willing to save up if the RNC is really that much better

The RNC is a better-sounding, more transparent compressor...... that's not always what suits the application.
