i literally just started out recording vocals and i would like to do covers of pop songs on YouTube. i bought a blue baby bottle and an m audio fast track with pro tools SE. i also am getting a m audio axiom 25 midi controller. i turned on monitoring and listened to what came out of the mic withot any effects and started to play around with them, the compressor, gains, textures but i really didnt know what i was doing. for some reason i kept hering this faint hum like of static or something very faintly. but is there a good book or video to watch in order to teach me the basics? thanks

Have you read the literature that came with Pro Tools, and your hardware?

yes but there wasnt uch there. i want to learn the basics of what the effects do and how to make vocals sound better and different things to do with audio

Try "Home Recording for Musicians for Dummies" by Jeff Strong. That is the first book I read - pretty complete and it's an easy read.

Yep! ^^another vote for Home Recording for Dummies. Also, Guerilla Home Recording is another book that is great for beginners!

Home Recording for Dummies. I got mine on eVil-Bay for like 6 bucks. and get the Power Book for what ever DAW you're going to use. I'm looking for another book now. What's next?
