best bass for around $500

One of the Absolute best sounding Bass Guitars i have ever owned is the Rigue LX 400 Pro. it is a 24 fret neck, can be played either active or passive. I have the 4,5 and 6 string LX Pro models and am very happy with all 3 this is the Bass guitars I play most and gig with.

I assume you mean the Rogue LX400 Pro?

I'll definitely give a thumbs up to Rogue. I have one of their low-end passive basses, and for relatively inexpensive hardware, it's remarkably well built, solid, and has decent tone, though I do usually have to add a little brightness with post EQ to get the sound I'm looking for.

I have Rogue model's LX400 Pro, LX 405 Pro and LX 406 Pro.
The low end Rogues are great instruments to do electronics upgrades.with some of these

she has a squire but she wants to move on and no more that 500 usd.....

but i would have included squire in that list ...the latest batch of squire jazz basses are supposed to set a new standard in price performance..

also the jazz neck is kind to small hands.

one thing i missed about my old squire precision from the 8os was how light it was compared to stock fender precisions.

the thing abour squire is that you have to take them as they come...quite often depending on where and when they were made.
