Best bang for the $ on Powered Monitors?

I hear some good things about the Behringer Truth monitors. But what is the best bang for the buck with at least a 6" driver? I have a complete list of every powered monitor currently being sold new, and My budget is a max of $1000, but I prefer to spend $1 if you know what I mean.

If you've got the money I'd go wth something that will last, and give you a fullrange sound, something like the "Blue System one's" sure it will take all your money, but you won't be wishing you had something better down the line.
 
I ordered the Event TR6 pair. These are the first REAL studio monitors I have ever owned. I was using a pair of stereo speakers and a receiver before. And in my recent divorce, I lost that so I began mixing in what I thought was flat response headphones. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
Anyways, tell me I made a good decision.
 
assuming you paid $399 or less, you made a good decision.....
 
Well you really didn't give us much time to pursuade you did you? I would have strongly suggested the Tannoy Reveals.

The consensus on this BBS is that the Yorkville YSM1ps are the best bang for the buck. I haven't heard them myself, though, I have Tannoy Reveal Actives, and are very happy with them.

Event TR6 are not bad, although not best in price/performance, according to the same consensus. If the TR6 are the ebst for that price is largely a matter of personal opinion and what room you have and whatnots.

In conclusion: You are gonna do fine.
 
i know your looking for active but i would seriously take a look at Truth Audio's passives monitors a pair is 950 and get ya self a samson servo amp for like 200...i've heard they hold up to adams and other speakers doubling and tripling its price...

other then i'd say yorkville actives i have the passives and i like them very much
 
I recently got a pair of used Mackie HR824 off eBay in excellent condition for $950.00 (they're around $1,350 new) and find them amazing in every way. Although monitors are very much a personal choice, I don't think I'm wrong in stating that the Mackies are generally considered one of the better choices in the $1,000+ price range. (You're also likely to see them in many professional studios.)

If I were to spend less than $1,000 on powered monitors I would take a good look at the Yorkville YSM1ps. They may be a little harder to find, but the general consensus is that they're very good value for money.

Other than that, the only advise I would give would be to go to a music store with the largest selection of monitors and your favorite CD, and see which one YOU like the best.

IMO I'd plug the little brother to the 824, the 624s... though not nearly as much power, I've found them to be more accurate, where I find the 824s to produce too much bass that borders on the realm of make-belive (like wise the krk v-8s feel just the opposite to me, with artificial hi's)

however, I find the 624s best in a surround configuration, they're definitely capable to mix regular music on, but whatever you pick start listening to music you know on those monitors a lot... start to learn the difference between what you are used to hearing, and the uber-accurate monitors you just bought...

I agree the 624's are excellent monitors also, although I must add that I found them to be at their best when paired with a subwoofer (due to some lack of lower bass response). By the time you do that I think there are other and possibly better options one should consider at that price level.
 
couldn't agree more... like I said, I have them in a 5.1 setup, and with a sub, and those pesky three extra speakers... I wouldn't want to think about the budget using anything else... I have done stereo mixes on them... and they are certainly flat flat flat... but they are one option of many.

I'd go with the Event 20/20 bas. They sound clean with great bass response and nice highs as well. I have Roland DS90a's (6in woofer) which sound good, but everytime I go to a studio with the 20/20's (8in woofer)...I'm blown away and kick myself for not getting them instead. The thing is...you have to make the best decision for your preferences. Goodluck.

p.s. you'd be surprised the difference 2 inches makes...hehehe...8 in woofers definately deliver better bass response!
