I bought Pro Tools LE 8 a couple of weeks ago and have had nothing but problems. I believe most of it has to do with the laptop I'm trying to run it on. Here are the specs:
Compaq Presario CQ60
AMD Athlon Dual Core QL 62 2 GHz
2 GB RAM
500 Hard Drive
Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium

So are there any audio interfaces I can use to minimize troubleshooting and stress? And maybe a recording software to go along with the interface if it doesn't come with one.

Alright Thanks Jim I'll look into it. First, I have to get this $300 investment off my hands lol

you're laptop specs look fine...I run a DAW on a dual 1.66 viao with no problems or latency at all...Id guess the problem lies with your drivers and/or interface set up not your laptop...
you say you have protools so what interface are you using just now?
are you using the recommended driver or ASIO4ALL?
Have you disabled the on board soundcard?
If it crashes during recording start removing VSTs to see if these are one of the culprits...

I wouldnt be selling anything just now

There's a lot of RAM being used up when you are running Vista. Make sure you shut down everything running in the background.

yup i have another lap top with vista as well, but it cost just another $50 to stick another 2 gigs of ram in so its up to 4...runs pretty much anything now...still cheaper than ditching an audio interface and protools and buying something else Id bet

I have the Mbox2 Mini and pretty much the rest of that stuff went right over my head. I'll keep playing with it and look into your suggestions before I make a decision.
