I will be in my room making rap/hip hop/rb beats and dj mixes. thats all

KRK Rokit's in my opinion. How about these?

I have the RP6's, but they are a bit more expensive, the 5's fit right in the $300 for two. I'm sure you'll soon get posts saying for just $200 more you can get this or that. But that's my two cents.

That question is going to get you a lot of answer that might not help you. (the krk's wont hit the lows) But, seeing as how you are making that style of music i assume you like low end fqz...and if you want low end then you can go two ways...and get something like a monitor system with a sub...or you two 8" monitors should do just fine...but for that price you might not be able to make it...but if your going around 8 inch then i suggest:

And if you want the sub and monitors:
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LX4/ <----this might be your best bet for the lows....i own m-audio monitors...though much better then these they are preety nice for the price
or

The subs/monitors would prolly fit your style better because you need to understand (you may or may not) that smaller (no matter how nice) cant possibly hit the lows you might want...hope that helps....

P.S never herd the samson set...but it looks like a sweet gig

look around at musicians friend and music 123 and zzsounds...sometimes they give you stuff for buying stuff
hope that helps.....because i wasted a lot of time for music i don't really even like that much

Might I ask what your experience is with the KRK's? I think I'd disagree with that statement. They don't do not go as low as he may like, but it'll keep is low-end tight. It's a good middle ground in my opinion because if he gets a sub he may keep the kick too low, if he doesn't get the sub he may put too much in...but in the kind of music, I don't think you can have too much.

I can bump my price up. I can spend more, but I would like to make money 1st.
I like my beat down low.
Do you have a sub?

I don't have a sub, there's not usually too much down there for the stuff I mix though. In that price range, you may be hard-pressed to find something with a lot of low-end.

I will look at the alesis mk11's
are the m-audios powered?
cult how much more for low-end good ones?

Yeah, the M-Audios are active. For the lowend you want, you'll need a sub, so I'd check out those M-Audios. Those are probably the cheapest monitors you could get with a sub.

You could try these, the info says it has a bigger low end than most that size, but I can't seem to find an actual frequency range.

You may want to just use some computer speakers with a sub (like $100) or some good headphones for now until you can buy some better monitors.

I can now but how much would I be paying for some good ones with a sub?
So those m-audios are not worth it?
Maybe like bose pc speakers?
will pc sound as good as m-audio?

if you are considering Bose, ANYTHING else is worth it. those little M Audio monitors with a sub will be infinitely better for your mixing than any Bose speakers. keep away from BLOSE at all costs.

Nah, I was tryin to see which $100 pcs he was talking about.
M-Audio looks cool,dont need a amp.So im checking them.

yes, don't worry about any computer speakers. the M Audio with the sub should work out great for you, at least to begin with. of course you can always upgrade later, but i think those would be an excellent set of monitors for starters, and should get you pretty far as long as you know what to do with em.

Think I need headphones too?

Naw, you shouldn't need them if you want to get those M-Audios. But they are always nice to have around (especially if you're tracking vocals).

I was saying you should just get some PC speakers or something if this is something you're just doing for your own enjoyment, which I should have added, sorry about that. I just meant if you don't think you really need to sink a bunch of money into the set-up, then don't. But, I think those M-Audios would be fine for you if you want a pair of monitors. By the way, I did not mean that they were shitty, as I have never used them so I wouldn't know.

yeah....shouldn't have even asked us if you were going to get bose....or better put (blose) and like i said man...the m- audios 10 fold better then that bose crap....way better.....
and ps i have mixed a lot with those krks...don't like um
and i was trying to stay in your price range...which in my opinion and others as you can see....are the best gig for what your looking for, and i think you'll be more then happy with um

just asking a question and i did. I think the look kool. I will only be making traks and mixtapes. never said i was getting those awesome bose. fing w/u.. seriously, those m-audios are kool enough for hip/rap/rb i will get them.. bak in the i had some point sevens -passive by alesis. paid 180 and were gfreat but no sub

so i dont need reeiver or amp? stupit q
