Hey guys,

I made a purchase of one of these quite some time ago, but never got around to installing it into my Yamaha acoustic.

I have put a deposit on a washburn acoustic today which I will pick up tomorrow. It does not have a pickup installed, but would like to have one installed. Seeing as the pickups they were stocking were all pretty much out of my current price range (the only one they had that was was a sound hole pickup that I didn't like the sound of), I would like to install the one that I already have.

I haven't actually heard this pickup in action, so I would like to know if people have experience with this brand of pickup (particularly this model, but others will do). I'm keen on finding out what sort of sound quality and volume I'm likely to expect.

Just FYI, it's an under-saddle piezo pickup.

I'm not familiar with that modle Belcat but i put a Belcat with a battery powered preamp in my Kramer Farrington and was pleasantly surprised by how well it works. Originally my guitar had a piezo style pickup and sounded a bit thin and tinny (it's a real thin body acoustic in case you aren't familiar with the body style) but when I installed the Belcat... suddenly it had the tonal range of a full body, needless to say I am impressed. Belcat seems to be as good in quality and performance to pickups costing much more, I compaired mine to a Seymore Duncan and could see little difference and hear no difference at all, the main differencs was price. I paid $53 US for mine compaired to $119 US, for a Seymore Duncan.
Damn, did I just do a product endorsement?

Well, that sounds positive at least. I've read a few posts at other places that have suggested that the Belcat's are good, however I wanted to ask directly because this will go into a $600(AUS) guitar and I'd rather make sure I'm going to get at least moderately acceptable quality. Because it was originally going to go into the Yamaha which cost a lot less, it wasn't so much of an issue originally, but that's all changed now...
