behringer MX9000 good?bad?

Hey guys....so I am pretty new about the recording thing and have a little bit of money to play with for a mixer...about $1000-1400 or so. I am looking at the Behringer MX-9000 even though I have heard some horror stories about it. PLease any feedback...serious feedback not pepole who hate behringer but have never worked with this mixer before..I guess just legit feedback or maybe some other mixers of the same price range...with at least 8 bus. Thanks so much guys....you are all so informative.

I got to use an MX9000 back on 2k2. I liked it...the only problem i knew of back then was that the guy who owned it didnt have space for the 2U power supply..that was a huge damn power supply. so it sat at the edge of the desk....of course it fell off one day and nearly decapitated the cat but besides that it worked quite nicely. quiet, effecient and the meter bridge was useful too....i dont know if the power supply worked after it fell...my guess is probably not..but i never went back over there so i have no idea....i wonder if the cat needed therapy. i havent seen one in a while though.
