I need to buy a compressor (tight budget). I was looking on musicians friend and ran across the Behringer MDX4600 Multicom Pro-XL Compressor for $129. Does this sound like a decent buy for someone beginning home recording? Allow me to explain my current set up. I have a SM-57 running into a Behringer 1202 Eurorack and then into my sound card. Please give me your thoughts and suggestions. Would it be preferable to get a mic pre amp before I buy a compressor. I can't afford it all at once.

It's one of those "all in one" boxes with expander/gate and compressor/limiter and you can side chain it too to control sibilence, etc. It's also a dual channel that you can run as dual or coupled with channel one as master. The LED meters switch from input to output levels with a button. Also has a bypass switch. I think they run about $80 on ebay although there's one on there right now at $30 (but 6 days left).
