Hello Folks,
I'm just experimenting with a reverseal of intentions. I thought it might be instructive and useful to nominate and comment upon Behri gear that works as described and is value for money.
Any offers?

VTone BDI (Bass D.I.)

I like this little unit a lot.
Lots of flexibility, even for guitar, and it's really quite solid with a traditional battery cover/access point.
Cheap, cheerful and really quite good, particularly for the money.

I've got a variety of gear: Roland, Yamaha, Presonus, EV, dB Technologies, AKG, Rode, Technics, Shure, Behringer and others . . . being an ingrained scavenger, I am always on the scrounge for something that will do.

The Behringer headphone amp has been great. The C2 SDCs are a big surprise: at around $AUS 100 a pair, they are amazing value for money . . . for live mixing they replace and outshine SM57s. And even if you don't like them, if you haven't squandered a fortune.

I've got a variety of headphones. I don't like the Behri HPX1000s, nor the cheaper and nastier HPM1000s . . . but the HPX2000s (which are open backed) have a great open and clear sound, and way better, in my view, than the AKG K66s, which sound boxy in comparison.

I had a little eight XLR Behri mixer for a while, but one of the mute buttons got stuck on it (I couldn't un-mute it!) . . . but I've got a Roland Sound Canvas and an old KR33 keyboard, both with dodgy micro-switches, so that problem is not unique to Behri.

I didn't like the virtualiser, and I don't use it now. I do like the Digital EQ (DEQ2496) and have two of them for live mixing, both working flawlessly.

Someone once observed that Behri is good value for money, but you need to take care: they won't do the distance on the road that, say, Klark Teknik does, i.e. they are inherently not as robust (but that robustness, however, has a commensurate price tag).

Nevertheless, I dropped a Rode NT5 and broke the capsule housing (sadness). I managed to fix it (less sadness). But I also dropped a C2 with no damage.

Here's the thing . . . they say buy cheap, buy twice. But an NT5 is still cheap in comparison to other SDCs. Even so, it's five times the price of the C2. If only the C2 had broken, not the NT5 . . . I don't care about buying twice at Behri prices, but at five times that amount, I squirm a bit.

A friend of mine has a Mackie desk . . . and after the trouble he has had with it, I swore I would never get one. I expect that all brands have their duds from time to time, and me swearing not to get one is probably judging the barrel by the one wormy apple.

Only piece of behri gear I have is the Powerplay Pro XL Headphone Amp.

No complaints, it works as described and has been on 24/7 for four years without issue.

hey

I have behringer c-3 and the matched pair of c-2s and these work perfectlly fine and actually do quite a good job.

Ada8000

I have an ADA8000 which did its job really well for a couple of years. I actually preferred it to a couple of other similar units I tried, and especially at 150 quid I paid for it, was really useful. Had it as part of my mobile rig for that time, with a motu 828
It has now however given up, after just a couple of years which is dissapointing. Still, it has already earned its money several times over.
Surprisingly good unit. shame it couldn't last longer. I would consider buying another if I was in a corner and couldn't afford an RME octamic, which may be my next choice.
long

V-amp 2 - never failed me

truth monitors - ditto, still serve as another perspective

B5 mic - worked fine, cool pattern selections, didnt fail

Behringer Splitter DI thingy - worked fine, but not good enough for electric guitar

MIC200 - works great, dont use much anymore, but it still works just fine

FCB1010 - this thing has been through hell (gigging) and still works great

2 or 3 small mixers - still working since 2001...

some vocal preamp/comp/eq/de-ess rack thingy that i used for 3 or 4 years before selling -- never a problem

virtualizer pro - worked a charm for 2 years before i starting favouring plugins - sold to someone and still works for them. Nice reverbs on that one too

I always suggest behringer for people that want something to record with but dont have alot of cash. Of all the people i have suggested it to, never an issue. So far --

one music store i worked for is even carrying them now due to my experiences, and so far hasn't had a return.

s o far.......

The Behringer B-1 got me through for the first 3 years.

Still works great, I just have better main mics now.

Somebody on this BBS said..... "your ears will tell you when it's time to upgrade" and that is exactly what happened.

But despite taking a 6 foot fall to the floor.... it still works perfectly.

I have an MX9000 berhringer console, its not the best thing but you asked value for money, and i think this is one of them...

ADA8000 is probably one of the better pieces of gear that they've made. The converters and pres are on par with all of the other "prosumer" pieces of gear out there. You have to spend 5 times to get something I'd consider to be a step up. (Onyx 800r)

I've got tons of Behringer in my live rig and a bit in the studio.

Live rig: 32 ch mixer; 12 ch mixer for drums submix; Ultramizer for comp & limiting; graphic EQ; no mics or mains or anything on the stage for that matter, but obviously a bit back at the desk.

Studio: 2031A truth monitors, patch bays, headphone amp.

What can I say about it? It does what I ask of it, and not a piece has broken. (Disclaimer--I only do a couple weekend festivals a year with the live rig, so that stuff ain't exacly working a 40 hour week all year long. :D)

I have a behringer bcf2000 that has worked great for the past 4 years..and I have a b2pro that I use on acoustic guitar now and then..sounds good with a decent preamp!!
Oh..I also have a old behringer eurorack mx 2004a mixer that is not being used but still works!!..Dont listen to the haters..if it works for you..use it!!

V-Amp2 is a nice bit of gear ..... sounds better than a POD and is cooler looking too.
Just don't drop it!

errmm, i dont think it sounds "better" at all -- the vamp2 is GREAT for the price, but its made of plastic, the podxt is made of metal, the choice of amps and interface of the podxt is miles above --

but if you dont have the cash -- vamp2 is the way to go!!! Lots of usable sounds.

I have the cash to get whatever I want and so I have something like 8 different modelers.
I have a two PODs .... the first one and the 2.0 , yes, they're made of metal and I certainly said you don't want to drop the V-Amp . It definitely isn't anything near as well built as the POD.
But IMO , the V-Amp sounds better in most ways. Absolutely a better clean sound and for distortions, the POD has a buzzy quality that you just can't totally get rid of. Of course, these are all matters of taste YMMV, but I very often try to use the POD for something and end up giving up and going to my V-Amp .... or my Rocktron Utopia or one of the 4 different Digitech modelers I have, all of which sound better in most cases than the POD.
I keep trying though ....

The Behringer BDI21 is going to be my first piece of Behringer gear. I ordered it last night after hearing so many good things about it. I've made tons of impulse buys so far relying on nothing but opinions of experienced people on this board, and love everything I've gotten so far.

I have Behringer gear that I bought new in the 90s..It's worked every since ( still works)..I just don't use it much. It's all thru-hole gear ( when Behringer was considered a good company....) SOT..anyone need it?...:D

I have the little UB802 mixer and works great for monitoring... :)
