ya know, i find asking people questions around here about audio equipment is as reliable (if not less reliable) than reading equipment reviews in magazines. not to say i haven't asked, but i've never made a purchasing decision based on some people's biases. i'm willing to bet that most of the people making remarks about this digital mixer haven't even heard it. and even if they have heard it, whose to say their ears are any better than yours? go listen for yourself. and next time you read a review/criticism about a piece of gear, consider the source long and hard before you actual take it to heart.

There is a lot of truth in what you have just posted. BUT to take it to its logical conclusion we may as all just read adverts about items and then purely purchase on the evidence of our own ears.

A lot of pepes use this forum to do some of the sifting for them and hopefully prevent the purchase of too many "pups".

I think the majority are intelligent enough to read between the lines and realise what is good and bad advice.

And after all we all just like to gossip and maybe learn something in the bargain

Jeez, my wife might find all the pictures I use for anatomical research. Best to leave them in the dark?

But seriously any help on posting MP3s would be appreciated.
Check this out. It's free and Waldo hangs out here. A real nice guy.

ddx3216 is GREAT!

I just got a DDX3216 (with 2 ADT 1616 cards) and I absolutely LOVE it!! I replaced my Mackie 32 ch with it and I am very glad I did. It is a very cool board. Although I read most of the posts on here, I ignore most of the ones who simply bash things mindlessly without any basis for their opinions. It's the same mentality as the people I see with the "piss on chevy/ford/dodge" logos that drive around my neighborhood. Somehow, that makes them feel better about themselves. Anyway, I actually OWN the ddx3216 and I am amazed at how many features are loaded on it. The specs are great, too. I would seriously recommend that people check this board out before buying a digital mixer. I don't think you'll find anything that comes close - especially for the money.

Thanks RTL! Finally, someone with an informed opinion on this console. I have found really only one other user review (on SonicState.com, I believe) on this board and it is a good one too.

Future thoughts

I have a Mackie board. Certainly nothing special about that. It is utilitarian and that is about it. It sound okay though I am a beginner engineer and the limitations in my sound quality and not necessarily equipment based. As I learn and experiment, I improve. I have though about what my studio should become in the future and I would imagine that the greatest change would be the addition of a digital mixer. That would make the studio mostly digital. Why in the future, becuase of cost. To go digital I have thought I would like to upgrade at least to a Yamaha O2R. Now that they have upgraded that board, it is even more possible that I would do that. I have also thoght that if the budget is there, I might consider a sony DMX100.

With the positive reviews of the Behringer digital mixer, the real question now is, do I really need to wait to enter into the realm of digital mixing?

I wonder.......

I thought I had given an opinion as a user early on in the thread?

Oh well!

It keeps getting better!

The more I use my DDX3216, the better it gets. Actually, it's just that I am learning it more & more. The learning curve is not nearly as steep as I originally anticipated. To anyone considering a digital mixer: Do yourself a favor and check this thing out! Unlike most things I buy, the more I use it, the more impressed I am.

Pardon me, sir.

That's right! Thanks for speaking up wilkee. How could I forget the helpful review earlier on. Thank you for your input. Well folks, I have rolled the dice on the 3216. Wish me luck. I am glad to hear the learning curve may be smaller than expected.

Happy tracking!

Thank you Happs01
Hope all goes well.

From my experience the only question you will keep asking is how the hell they do it for the money.

Keep us informed?

Will do wilkee. Happy 50th Jubilee (If you're a royalist). Long live Brum!

channels 1 and 2 not tracking evenly

hey all 3216 users,

I find that I am always having to adjust the gain on my main mix ch.2 to match the level of ch. 1. I have to do this with all sources (LP). the trims on my dj mixer are even (ch 1 and 4). when I raise the level on the dj mixer it does correspond on the 3216, but again the ch. 1 level always peaks HIGHER than ch. 2, requiring gain. Chs. 1 and 2 are XLR, no phantom power, of course

Also, when recording in s/pdif, chs. 13 and 14 never peak any higher than between -12 and -6. this is NO BUENO. -6 is the least requried level to get a good 16 bit recording. how do I boost this without compression?

Just bought A DDX

Guys,
I have just bought muself a DDX after much sould searching..and I couldn't find anything else that packed this much in for the $$

I got mine with the ADAT1616 INterface as well....

So far (and I have had it less than 12 hours) I am more than impressed with what it does.

My Main reasons for buying one was as a control surface and ADAT interface and overall, was a cost effective way of getting another 16 Channels into My PC

The only bug bears I have are
1. MMC and sonar...trying to control the transport in sonar.....If anyone has a work around for that I would be more than happy to hear it.

2. Turning Solo OFF on a sonar track once it has been turned on. Still haven't sused that one out.
