I know behringer equipment sucks... tone-wise at least and quality wise for recording equipent, but how about for something like this? It seems to be the cheapest cable tester with the features i want.

My behring DI box is fine, but from what all you guys say i wouldn't by anything else of theirs like a mixer or pre.

what do you guys think? anyone used one? I did a search but all i found was DJL saying they can be used. Have you used one?

thanks,
T

Got one at the Theatre - Works like a charm.

i've used it and it's seemed to work fine ... can't say my leads break all that often though!!

The only thing that's wrong with it is it's so cheap that it doesn't seem like it should be a good unit. But it is.

I'm confused, half of my XLR cables say that the XLR OUT jack's shield is connected to the pin 1/sleeve signal, and hte other half don't. (Grounded shield LED) So half of my cables are fucked up ) :. which one is it supposed to be?? connected or not?

I would assume it should be lit up, but i'm confused because my two monster cables don't show this LED. Whats' the deal?

Thanks a lot,
T

(the manual that the cable tester comes with sucks)

That Behringer CT100 is a direct copy of the EbTech Swizz Army cable tester. I mean a direct ripoff, no attempt made to hide it in the least. I have the EbTech and it is a great unit, extremely well built and solid as a brick.

While I assume that the Behringer is made properly, I personally would want to check my cables on another tester before I got too worried about them. I just wouldn't trust the CT100 until I'd confirmed that it was working properly.

That said, if you are using balanced XLR cables, pin one shoud match pin one, pin two matches pin two, and pin three matches pin three. The LED's should be lit up in a row from lower left to upper right. Any other configuration of the LED's is incorrect for balanced cables.

yeah, that's how all of my XLR cables work out, but there is also another LED at the top labeled "Grounded Shield." should this one be lit up?

thanks

Got One

Works great unless you want to test Speakon connectors or some of the hybrid cables with different connectors on each end.

Manual and on-line tech help from Behringer is limited to fairly basic stuff you could probably figure out intuitively.

Best deal I've found for the money and would buy again despite the short comings.

anyone had any problems with it being wrong?
