I've seen some threads here bashing the Behringer B-1, but what about the B-2? Any opinions based on objective sound quality (as opposed to populist politics)?

The B2 is a huge improvement over the B1.

That's not saying much, but it is much easier on the ears, and has some nice features to boot.

Is it worth $150? Thats the price I'm getting. Or should I consider a different mic (mainly for male vocals) in that price range? I already have a Shure Sm-58.

For around that price, you can have a Studio Projects B3, which has some of the same features and is well like 'round these parts.

$150 for a rebaged NT2, its worth it. Get it and the B3.

I'm lost. What is a rebaged NT2?
It means a Rode NT2 with a Behringer label, sold by Behringer.

I don't see anything like either of those things (NT1 or B3) on their website. What am I missing?

No one said anything about an NT1. The B3 is a product by Studio Projects, not Behringer: http://www.studioprojectsusa.com/b3.html

darrin_h2000 was saying that the B2 is simply a Rode NT2 that Behringer bought the rights to and sells as the Behringer B2. I was wondering if he could verify that, because the Rode NT2 is supposed to be pretty decent. Now you're up to speed.

Basically, it's a rebadged NT2, with slightly different housing and a few cheaper parts.

It's a good value.

I have a B2 and it can sound very nice. I think it's definitely worth 150 bucks. Unfortunately, I paid more.....

Those two things could make a big impact to the sound. I wonder if anyone has both of these mics, so they could post some sound clips comparing the two.

I have had only good experiences with Behinger B2's, and they are definetely worth 150 $.

I was told that by the Behringer rep, trying side by side convinced me this was true. Besides the insides were the same.

I ended up getting the B-2. Thanks for all the input. I definitely notice a huge difference already between the sm-58 with no pre-amp and the clarity of the B-2. I'm still trying to get the best sound out of my vocals which is taking some tweaking. On many of the Zoom pre-programmed effects I get sharp highs that are a little annoying. I'll be fooling around with eq, but I guess thats another forum.

I see that Behringer just came out with a B2 "PRO" model. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...102497858/search/g=home/detail/base_id/104119

Here's their info on the thing...http://www.behringer.com/02_products/prodindex.cfm?id=B-2PRO&lang=eng

It seems to be the old B2 with an extra pattern setting, so it'll compete in the market with the Studio Projects B3, I guess. Things just keep on getting more interesting...

Now I have to decide between the SP B3 and the Behringer B2 (Pro)--and the Pro comes with a case and a shock mount, for about $10USD less. If I wait a while longer, I guess they'll just start handing them out on street corners...
