Behringer ADA8000 and Recording Card?

I'm about to start a low budget mobile recording setup, and wanted to know if the Behringer ADA8000 would be a good piece of equipment to buy. I think I'm going to buy a used Mackie console (use its preamps) and run line outputs to the Behringer. (not using its terrible preamps) Then, into either a PCI or firewire sound card.

Also, what are some good PCI and Firewire cards that support adat input. Preferrably, 16 channels. Just for upgrade ability.

Like I said, I'm trying to go low budget with this, but I don't want to not have the capability of multitracking.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lots of people seem to really like the ada8000, I'm looking at picking one up someday. Someone on gearslutz posted a shootout between the ada8000 and an aurora 16, just going the conversion, and suprisingly lots of people blindy chose the ada8000. I've heard that Behringer copied the RME schematic, but thats just word of mouth.
