Hey,

Im just starting out to buying gear. Im fairly new to recording and dont know alot.
I know my way around a PC or MAC just fine, I have used pro tools but only in a classroom where everything was already set up. I was doing this in a course I was attending but I had to leave the course for other reasons.

I want to be able to record my acoustic guitar at home. Maybe vocals too but for now just the guitar.
I have a Mac Book Pro 15" high end model before the latest refresh.
I was looking at AKG C451B ST microphones (a set of two on ebay for 850 euros) as I heard them being used and I liked the sound quality.

They are expensive but I can afford it but I know I need something to plug them into. (A mixer is what I think its called, please correct me if im wrong) And I was told pro tools 9 now accepts any hardware so what would be the best mixer to buy?

My budget would be around 1100 (Euro's) I could probably stretch a bit more if needed.

If you have any questions just ask.
Thanks for any help provided.

You'd be better off not getting the mixer and buying an audio interface. Presonus, M-audio, Alesis, Zoom...google those companies and search for their interfaces. Find what will serve your situation best (seemingly just a 2 input interface with built in preamps). If you have more questions about the interface, come back and ask them. But that is where I would start my search if I were you.

Thanks for the advice to the both of you.

I googled the difference between audio interface and mixer but wasn't 100 percent sure about them.

Heres where the really noob bit comes into this.. I can under stand what the mic inputs are for (obviously) but what are the other inputs for? I know this is lame.

the other inputs are to go line in straight from the instrument so for example just plug in your acoustic guitar, which saves you having to mic it up, if you get wat i mean?

Oh so they act as a DI?

EDIT: I researched this quite a bit now and I think ill go with the model you mentioned, I found one fairly cheap but I was wondering if I bought it from the US would it work in my country?
The voltages are different in our countries but the device takes a regular old 12v plug. Of course I have plenty of them.
