I wouldn't buy any guitar that expensive without being able to play it first.
The asking price isn't fantastic, so why not peruse some axes locally?

If it were a '59 with a photo of the serial #, I would probably take a different position

I hear ya... but there aren't alot of used Les Pauls where I live.

Just wondered if anybody knew any reasons NOT to buy... such as 'that year sucked for Les Pauls'. Or pricewise if it was in the ballpark or not.

I know I should always play one first, but that's not an available option most of the time for me.

Thats a nice looking LP..but if your curious for LP years, i'd go to google and type in Late 80's Les Pauls...im sure something would come up if they were exceptionally bad/good.

That white one is a studio model not a standard... not the same

It's gone now. If you look around you'll find a Les Paul without spending a fortune. I bought my gold top Deluxe (see avatar) for $750 in '97, when there were some in stores that had been butchered for twice that.

If at all possible, play before you buy. I bought mine, after years of not caring for LPs, because it sounds far better than others I've had my hands on.

In other words, they vary.

There's one sentence in the seller's description that would worry me....

"The pickups are the baddest sounding rock pickups I have ever heard."

Most people would take that as "bad" in a kick-ass sort of way. But what if the pickups are complete junk and sound like shit? The seller would actually have been telling you the absolute truth right up front, but did it in a way that would lead to a false assumption.

This is Ebay we're talking about here.... assume nothing and ask lots of questions before hitting that BIN button.

Easily remedied.

Easily remedied.

But not cheaply.

And if I'm forking over that much for a guitar, it had better be plug-and-play right off the bat instead of one that needs mods because of the seller's slick lies.

But since it's no big deal to you... do you wanna buy a bridge? :D:D
