here are some oldies

a lennon solo

heres one live back in 02

live -- horrible quality, the tiny digital recorder was overloading. listen at your own risk

But this one was recorded @ home after the gig (regular quality):

I didn't like this one much. The recording is decent, playing is fine (etc), but it doesn't represent the original very well. I was thinking 'sorta-like-Aerosmith-version' too. I prefer covers to be authentic and not take-off versions, but that's just me.;)

This one seemed like a cross between a take-off version and a wacked caricature of the original. You destroyed the entire hook of the chorus & seemed to want to hang your hat on the hook of the verse. I know that was all intentional, so I'd just take it in context. You wanted it to be different and it's different, so pls no offense.

I think you're talented, your recordings are decent and I'm glad you're doing Beatles covers.

If you have to be 'different' on a cover like this, does that mean this tune is virtually worn out, as is? I'd have to give that some thought.

I like this collection of stuff quite a bit! So far not a clunker in the bunch!;)

Really nice soloing on "I'll Be Back"!

I don´t know if it was already mentioned here, but what do you think about the All my loving made by Helloween?
I think this is where the real point in covers is, to take the song but make it something new, like in this case by completely changing the style.

Sorry to be so wordy up there!

I think I mean I like the production but not the arrangement, but YMMV.

I like the raw edge or feeling of rawness in your recordings.;)

No, by all means I welcome criticisms, and thanks for being up front with me. Whenever I do covers, I like to make them my own creations if I can. I figure I can never get close enough, by my standards, to the originals without doing them some kind of injustice. I also love heavier, harder hitting songs -- it's just my style. So I think this is one of those times when it's appropriate to agree to disagree on my style here, but at least you approve of my production value, which is something that's a little more objective.

Sweet! :D Sounds like Chris Robinson singing with Mountain...freakin' cool. Love the guitar crunch, the drums, vocals...everything.

I guess it is a similar idea to the aerosmith version, but much more retro and raw (which translates as better to me).

Not very faithful arrangement-wise...but not the intent here either I'd imagine. Personally, I tend to prefer covers that are as different as possible from the original while still being recognizable.

Nah! Blah!

See, I'm not down with that. Just the opposite for me.

... but I did hear this cover of "The Wizard" once,... eh,... never mind!;)

As long...

As long as we're tossing in recent or older stuff that may have been showcased before,...

here's the schwacksterpiece I recorded on 07/04/08.

It's my usual hacked sounding demo with the usual flaws, heinous errors and blatant gaffs!;)
