Bummer. A very long time ago, maybe even before your parent where born (Sh!t where did the time go?) My mom was behind me 100% and pushed to make sure that I always followed my dreams.

Young Man let me tell you if down deep this is what you want to do or make a life's work out of something along these lines - don't hesitate for a moment. Life is so very short! Don't waste it doing something that you don't want to do. Do something that you love.

This. I wanted to do stuff with music since I was twelve. And I didn't have the money and my parents wouldn't get it for me. Then again, I wanted a mixer and turntables. And they hated the music. And that stuff was a lot more expensive then it is now. And I jumped from hobby to hobby like a grasshopper on crack.

But it did all work out in the end. I'm 30 and I finally have the time, the money and the room to put some modest equipment and enjoy it immensely. If you really want it, you'll get to it eventually.

i started recording last year...i was 42...always the bridesmaid :D

That's great to hear Euro!
10 times out of 10 all I hear is I hate my job and the direction my life is going
... sometimes it just takes a leap of faith. And a lot of hard work!:)

Wow, I was singing an awesome Who song (well, cover) and all you guys could think about was YMCA. What does that tell us, eh eh? ;)

Just a mood setter. Tell me more about your Who cover.

There's not many of us left...

Soon it will be time to hand the torch to a younger grimtraveller. Or rejuvenate like Dr. Who.
There's only room for one grim ! Besides, the batteries have run out.......

Is that the one that was written by Mose Allison and turns up on the extended version of "Live at Leeds" ?

alright, so i picked up my bx5as today. It might be me but they seem to be lacking some bass :O

I bought a pair of KRK RP5's. I wanted to get the BX5A's. Guy at the store says: "you want to cross reference them with another pair", told him I was interested in hearing them compared to the RP5. Another guy working at the store walked past us and simply stated: "you'll pick the KRK's" and walked away.

Guy plays some tunes on both sets...plays a few cd's I brought...and bought the KRK's. It's a much fuller, richer sound. The M-Audio's were leaning way too much on the highs. And don't forget. I'm an utter newb at this.

When I was paying at the register the other guy walked past us again and said "told you". Fun :)

Not so fun that I have to wait, they only had the demo's there. Should be here right on time for next weekend :D

So, for me the difference was €50, don't know if you can return the M-audio's?

EDIT: mentioned the wrong type of monitors...

do you mean bx5a?

Yes, sorry. I meant those :o

Guy at the store had a good point though, he said that back at home you don't have a reference. And even though I could hear the difference in the store, back home you shouldn't notice it and you could have perfectly good mixes on the M-Audio's.

hmmm i get what your saying. I think for now i'm going to stick with these m-audios. i forgot who told me this on this forum, but "personal preference is half the battle"

Absolutely. I've read here that you get used to your speakers. It's a matter of getting that neutral sound. It may lack a bit in the bass, but the important part, it seems, is that you know that.
