Tascam since 1981. Guess I'm not a fair judge, but I had a Roland something or other for awhile and went back. Currently a 2488 and a 788.

I cracked in October (05) and got a Tascam Pocketstudio 5, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
The reason I went for the PS5 is for the size (small but not too small), the internal Midi Tone Generator (plays Standard Midi Files), and there's a group of guys who produced some pretty respectable stuff on it that I heard (Havin' Fun, mcarp555, sgulley, holzra and the PS5UG). Plus, I just wanted a new toy & I already have every decent Portastudio ever made! I certainly didn't "need" it, as evidenced by the fact that I've still not used it. It's still in the box!
Anyway, for what it is, the Tascam Pocketstudio 5 is kinda cool. I wouldn't consider it a great production recorder or my primary or favorite recorder, and I don't even know for sure if I have the aptitude to deal with it's "gadgetiness",... but new toys are cool and fun nonetheless. I guess I better vote!
I also gotta get it out of the box & play with it!!
