CAn anyone give some a/b opinions on the Focusrite Green 3 and the Joe Meek VC1Q? I know they are probably much different but I'm looking at buying one of these. I would mainly use ot for vocals. Mostly acoustic type vocals. Thanks!

Argh...I'm so torn!

On one hand I think I should just get one nice channel strip (hence my post about these two units.). On the other hand I think I should just go for it and get like a power rack and start collecting the OSA pre's. And on my third (albiet slighty freakesh) third hand I think I should just stick with what I got (the stock pre's in the Echo Mona Units). I think the pre's in the units are decent just they are not as detailed and as open as I would like/expect, but then again maybe it is just my technique/experience that is limiting me.

So does anyone have some advice? I can post some MP3's of recordings if needed....

John

Go with the OSA's. They are top of the line and you won't outgrow them - ever. Plus, they are planning on adding new modules in the future.

I just sold the Focusrite Green on here (you just emailed me about them but they're sold) and it's a very professional sounding preamp with a very accurate and clean sound. No complaints.

As far as the Joemeek goes, it's a 'color' piece that works on some sounds and totally does not work on others. I'd add one to my rack someday when i have all the 'basic' pres that i want first.

Hope this helps.

John,

Off the subject...don't know enought to healp ya there.

Welcome to the board and where in Oklahoma do you live?

I'm in Edmond and I liked your website by the way.

I'm primarily a bass player and song writer and have a Ron Lyra custom 4 string and built a Fretless 4 string myself.

I admire your interest and follwing your dream.

I would love to do more building on the side but just don't have the tiem and money and I don't want to do it for a career.

Anyway I saw another Oklahoman and had to say hi.

Scooter,

Hey man! I live in Noble but my shop is in Norman..well east norman...by lake thunderbird.

Sounds like a cool guitar you got there!

If you ever want to stop by the shop/studio then feel free!

Thanks John,

Very gracious of you and I may take you up on it some day I used to work out of Norman by the hospital and drove higway 9 east of norman frequently.

I also went on my honey moon to a bed and breakfast in that area "something of the Pines" I can't recall.

I will PM you if I thing I will ever get the chance to come out your way.

Scott
