Battle of the cheap tube mics: Nady TCM 1050 vs. SP TB1

It seems like manufacturers are now releasing inexpensive tube mics for those of us with GAS. Has anyone done a comparison between these two mics? I've got a Neumann TLM103, stereo pairs of Elation KM201 and the complement of SM57s, but I'm thinking a tube mic would be a good addition to my mic locker.

I know the TB1 is so new, so there may not be much feedback yet, but I'd be curious to know the opinions of anyone who has used one of both....
 
I just recieved a TB-1 today,I haven't really put it through it's paces yet but so far I am very impressed.I was considering the Nady tube mic when I was getting impatient waiting for the TB-1.I asked about the Nady at the time and Harvey told me that he thought that the quality control of Nady mics isn't so hot.The thing that made me stay my course and wait for the TB-1 is how Alan Hyatt stands behind his products.Now that I've recieved my TB-1 I am glad I waited.I am going to try to get somethiing taped tommorow and I'm going to try and post a clip so everyone can hear the TB-1.First I have to get something tracked,then I gotta figure out how to post a clip!God,I hate being an idiot!
 
Wes, I'm not sure I understand your statement. If I have a TLM103, why would I want a T3? The T3 is probably better than the TB1 given the price difference, but is there something specific you're referring to about having a TLM 103?
 
Octoruss, you have a Neumann. Don't destroy the credibility that name imparts among your clients by sullying your collection with a Nady. If you can't help buying a cheap mic, at least with the SP you may contact a widely-known, accessible person with a good customer service reputation if you have any issues with it.

i have one of the $79 nady large diaphrame condenser mics and i don't like it....it has a harsh sound on the high end that is hard to eq out...not much bottom either. i've never heard the nady tube mic, but, I will not be buying one after the 1st nady let me down.
 
I got a feeling that Octoruss gives a fuck about them.Otherwise I don't think he'd ask.And seeing I got a TB-1 today,I'm kinda interested myself.Why so cranky?And why would you bother to even read this thread if you don't give a fuck about either mic?
 
I notice that the post that I responded to in my previous post is gone.The entire content of the post was"who gives a fuck about either of these mics anyhow?".I tried to delete my responce but too much time has gone by.I added this post just in case anyone was wondering what I was talking about.

About the TB-1,I've used it a bit more and I am liking it very much.Very smooth but with a definate presence.Very nice.
