Only thing Jag is that I use the JV1010 as extra sounds my main sounds come from chopped up samples (thus creating CHop Shop) Where as you rely on it a little more than I do for your creations... But what ever....

It's all good, C704. I just ate, I got a great call from London about my music, and I'm about to go down to Miami to spin @ Crobar. So, I'm in a great mood. :p

Hello All,

I want to get in on this thing, even though my stuff is not that good.
But I think it should be broken down a little more, as far as
use of samples and totally original stuff.
Not to say that sampling is not good, it's because samples are a little unfair. You can have a great sample and just add a simple beat to it and make it sound like the sh@! (Black Rob, Mobb Deep).
But keep me posted if this ever goes down. I have all my songs in MP3 format may need a little guidance as to how to post on e-net.

Lets get the ball rolling, here.

Okay, at the risk of sounding bossy, here is my suggestion for the Battle of the Beats:

1. We'll set up a thread where everyone who wants to compete can show their interest.
2. Next, someone will have to volunteer to run this thing. I will do it if no-one else has time. I don't think it will take that much effort.
3. Everyone who wants to compete will email the organizer a link to their beat along with a description of the track and the equipment/samples used.
4. The organizer will layout a single elimination style tournament in the form of a word document or something, and post it. He will do his best to match up comparable beats (samples, equipment, etc.), but hopefully no one will bitch too bad about it since he will be doing it for FREE.
5. For every "match," a separate thread will be started consisting of two descriptions, two links, and a poll.
6. Anyone can access the thread, listen to the tracks, and vote. Hopefully no one will cheat.
7. After the first round is finished, the organizer will set up the second round, third round, semi-finals, finals, etc.
8. May the best man win!


Any suggestions or changes? Any volunteers to help run this competition?

And what equipment will you use! V-drums? MPC? SoundModules?
A real Drum Set? Human Vocals? Fruity Loops or other pc-based beatz?Who's gonna say who's beat is the best! We all s'posed to be sharin' skillz, beatz and music! So share! No need to be gettin' in any type of juvenile challenge! Shit, I've heard a lotta phat-@ss skillz in this forum and a lotta ya'll are makin' me JEALOUS!! There's madd Talent in this house, so really, does it make any difference who's better or not!!??
Just keep 'em flowin' so the rest of us can appreciate and learn!
