Hey dude,

Upon first listen I will say this. The mix is solid and smooth. You certainly can pound the skins! THe song gave a feeling of relentless and trudging movement.......No going back.

the 2:35 mark (or so) lent a feeling of arrival. That git insert at 4:18ish was placed even with everything else in the mix but, it was short and teasing......never to be heard again........:(

The song was the star but, I waxed and pined for a stand out here and there. It is fine ambient music. Creates a definitive mood and texture. It is verging on a Tangerine Dream approach. Wonderful movement and I can only give myself a head check to listen again and fully absorb all that you've spilled out.

Thanks for the listen.

peace and progress,

Theron.;)

IT'S HEAVY!!!

Man this is good stuff. Reminds me of a group called Manowar out of NY, are you familiar with them??
I am speechless...I could hear this as an interlude to something or in a movie where the army is riding out of hell!!

The King

Sabb, Very interesting. Ya, I could see this in a movie myself. Good stuff, Now I see why I need some real drums in my stuff. I should send you the wav files and let ya have at it. Good playin'.

Wow huge stuff!

Sounds like it should be on the sound track fo Heavy Metal 3!

I see the evil forces marching to war!:D

The drums sound great,very big.
I like the backround vocal chorus sound, from a module?

Collaborating with others,I'm jelous!:(
Must be nice to have friends!:D

I dig the bells at the end,is that backwards e-bow at the very end?

Really cool!

Best to you,
Pete

Wow, that is some heavy scary stuff. I've said before, this isn't really my thing, but you do it well. I don't really like the drum sound, but that's just my preference. The snare sounds separate from the rest of the track, if you know what I mean. To be honest, I had a hard time getting through the whole track, so I looked at some porn while listening, and that worked oddly, perhaps pervertedly, well! :p

if anyone see's this, can you check out a tune called 'riches to rags' I remixed it..

Triple M - finally an instrumental you didn't hate.. your right about the end, I'll be goin' back in. thanks as always Trip!

fenderlikingood - cool! thanks for the thumb.. I have some heavy stuff in the making.. Check back after the jam fest! :D

Cyan Jaguar - I sent you a p.m. but I don't think you got it.. check it out. I'll send it again. thanks for checkin' it out man..

participant - ha! :D yeah I used to have long hair.. :( Put up a picture of yourself.. It would be cool to see what some of you other freaks look like!

theron - you definitely should be writing a book or something.. you are a literary genius! :D I think it does need some more spicing, I took it this far, I may as well see her off.. thanks as always my man.. I'm looking forward to hearing your latest offering with the new gear.. I'll be over there momentarily..

King Elvis - yeah I have some friends that are heavily into Manowar.. As a matter of fact, the guy who I'll be taking piano lessons from is the singer of a band called 'Virgin Steele', and they opened for Manowar twice.. His band sounds just like them and he actually makes a living from touring.. He goes away for a few months at a time to tour in Europe.......... "Kill with Power!" :D
thanks for the ears man!

Flash - you'll be happy to know that these are 'not' real drums.. I was playing an electronic kit.. Drop me a p.m. I'll lay some 70's style rock and roll drums for ya! :D thanks for the listen!

petelait - hey Pete, I actually ran my keyboard through the Pod Pro,and then through the Blue Max compresor.. sounds just like an EBow.. :D I recently got a Roland XP-30, but some of the sounds are on the JV 10-10 also.. yeah this was going to be part of a giant concept story thing, but it just got to be too much.. I gave up on it and am slowly turning the songs into stand alone tunes.. Theres another tune I did with him, 'C#' minor, and that was supposed to go with this.. Thanks for the ears my friend..

macle - :D Yeah this is what I call the 'no girlfriend at the moment sound.' thanks for checkin' it out man.. some of my other tunes are quite mellow, but you always seem to catch the heavy ones.. :D

if anyone sees this could you check out the 'riches to rags' remix..
www.nowhereradio.com/samij/singles thanks! :D

This sounds Wicked!

Nice work on this one. It has a definite dark feel to it which goes along with the whole funeral theme.

Very nice drumming and I like the whole structure of this tune.

On my machine the bass sounded a bit overbearing, but it may have just been my machine. The lows were kind of overwhelming.

Cool change at the 2:40 mark and then going back into the fast beat was great!

I could totally imagine this as something that would open a show. It has a definite live feel to it.

Overall great job and I like the ending on this one.

Re: if anyone see's this, can you check out a tune called 'riches to rags' I remixed it..

Jeez-s sam, that's my favorit toon of yours! Your ears must know somethin mine don't cuz your last mix of "RTR" RULED!!!

heh. is right! ;) ( pic will come when my toon is done... if I can steal my bro's camera ;))

First off,

Me write a book:eek:   I can't even spell!! Nice thought though. Think I'll stick with my first disease........aka...songwriting....

To comment on your subtle, yet earnest, request for "Rags" feedback.

I've downloaded an old mix and listen at work when I want everyone to back off and leave me be. When I just listened, I had a fit of deja voo/nostagia and found myself prepping food for 300 and chopping veggies like a maniac!!

Anyhoo......

your singing is very technically solid. You don't swoop to the notes like I tend to. You nail the note and pitch every time while lending wonderfully descriptive inflection. In short, F*ck You:) .

I thought the git solos(specifically the first one) could have more of an impact if they were brought up in the mix to match your newfound vocal confidence. Let the git solo sing too!!

On sub notes, The coughing was really well placed. That sort of ambient addition it not easy to pull off. I've failed at cute texture many-o-time. I was waiting for you to emerge, pale faced, sunked eyed and death bed begging for one last hit , after I heard the coughs:D :D

I dug the ending tying into the intro. I like circles. They're so smooth...........

Peace and azure humming,

Theron.

R.T.R.

Again this is my FAV-o-RIEEEEET sammy tune, so any remixes demand comments ;)

Drip is louder... cool

Do you hear a click on the 4 beat, right on the "DAY" syllable of "I was feeling very good toDAY?" Sounds crackly, like a snap or something. On purpose?

You're now ducking the synth behind the vox? Interesting...

The guits are DIRTIER! ;) cool

moved the coughing part up in the arrangement. Nice.

Is it just me, or did you lower the volume on the vox in the chorus? oh man, mixmkr's gonna sht a brck! :)

Also, the guit solo seems to be lower :(

Kids laughing where the coughing used to be. Nice.

Are you using a talkbox, following the melody after that??? Either that, or you're doing very subtle falsetto stuff... or something. Definitely sounds like a faint voice in there now.

Cool remix  but the last version was kick ass, too.

Chad

i think you did your namesake good justice..........now all you need is ozzy behind the mic...........but seriously, have you ever thought of adding vocals? this song would probably lend itself to a cool vocal melody.......cool stuff.

Nice remix...but is it lacking the crispy high end? I don't know cause I've fried my ears with the headphones all day .... seems like it might be.

much better sound fx.....cough, kids...

this version has new good, but seems to lack the 'ball's' the other version seemed to have...if I remember.

I get the drip thing now....you damn plumber!!!

Heavy Stuff, Dude!

Mix is fine IMHO. Wish I could put together a mix like that. Maybe I will be able to if I hang out here long enough and the Lord tarries. ;)

Good stuff, Sam!

Yo Sam, wassup? My arm is getting there now, I will be laying down some tracks this week for you and AlChuck. I am so stupid: I have a pool in my complex, but I never realized until recently how much it could help my arm problems. It shall be glorious.

I like this tune the best. Sounds a bit like Trans-Siberian Orchestra, who I play with. I hear some Rush in there, too.

I wish you lived nearby, it would be great to put our heads together.

A comment: not a critique, a compliment:

I hope someday you take some theory lessons, or get into classical music on a deeper level. Music pours out of you, it just seems to keep coming out. Your imagination is outstanding.

My only slight "problem" ( and judging from the responces, it is not a problem"), I would like a little more development of your themes. Damn, I wish you were around here, so I could show you what I was talking about, but think " Theme and variations". Also, think about a "B" section in the middle.

Basically, the tune is in B flat minor for five minutes. No modulations, no nothing. Do an experiment: play the tune, and hold down a B flat on a string patch. It will always fit. Perhaps a middle section in D flat is needed.

OK, I am done, looking forward to jamming on the Sam/Dave tune,DK

thanks dooods!

boydrj - cool! yeah there is some serious bottom end on this one.. I imagine it sounds awful on lo-fi.. thanks as always for the comments man..

participant - we already spoke through p.m.'s.. ;) thanks!

theron - you should write a book, but you should really look into a spell checking program.. lol! :D I remixed it and started the other thread based on yours and others suggestions.. I'll send you an email shortly my friend.. thanks!

powderfinger - I think I might add vocals to this.. Sometimes I like to leave it up to the imagination, but I doubt most people imagine the same things as I do. :) thanks for the feedback man..

mixmkr - I remixed it after I read your reply.. I started a new thread about it and you said it sounds better! :) thanks for the ears my man..

Axe4Yahweh - thanks Axe! Yeah if there's anything good about the mix, it is only because I have no life and i hang out here.. I have remixed it a billion times.. Nice to hear it's halway decent..

DavidK - excellent! thanks Dave! I have heard some Trans-Siberian because a good friend of mine LOVES them.. From what I have heard of them, they are very cool.. I also really love 'Rush' That is truly good to hear.. I'm glad your arm is getting better.. My friend came up with the initial riff and I tried not to take over his whole idea.. although I did for the most part.. :D This was going to be part of a big concept whole Cd type story.. If you check out a tune of mine called 'C# minor,' that was going to come right after this without a pause.. I scrapped the idea because the story got soo crazy, I didn't know how to end it.. I started taking the songs and making them stand alone tunes.. I may have to do more work on this.. I am really looking forward to hearing the violin on our collaboration.. My friend still doesn't believe me that I am collaborating with someone who played with 'Trans Siberian,' but I think he'll believe me when the tune is done.. Let me know if you want me to take out the big organ.. I can leave some space there for a violin solo or something.. thanks again Dave!
