Hi, I have a Tascam TM-ST1 MS Stereo Mic that is battery powered, I got it for my ghost hunting activities. However I would like to use it also if I happen to need another mic for music recording. I have a MXL 992 at present.

I plug into the Tascam FW1082. Now I know the 992 goes into one of the phantom power Mic inputs on the 1082, What about the battery one? It has an 1/8" plug but I have a 1/4" adapter for it. Where would I plug that one in? Since it has it's own power would I use a regular line in or what?

THanks

I googled the Tascam mic. It runs on 1.5v, so you don't need phantom power for it. You can just plug it into the 1/4" input on the back of your Tascam FW1082, and leave the phantom power off. I don't think this will get you "stereo" tho.. for that you might try getting a Y adaptor.... 1/8" stereo (female) that Y's out to two standard or preferrably balanced 1/4" (male) plugs. That way you can plug into 2 channels and utilize the stereo features of the mic... unless you have a stereo input on the back of the Tascam.. I didn't see one in the picture

It's ok to adapt to xlr and go into a mic pre for it will not harm the mic.
