Bassy Sound when I Palm Mute

When I'am chugging (Palm muting) whatever you want to call it.. Iam getting a bassy sound or when i hit a the string open in drop tuning same thing get a bassy woah sound.. tried tons of mic position... Bass traps helped a bit, could be the room it self, any ideas??

Start at the amp (usually happens w/too much gain, tubes going south), old speaker surrounds, loose cabinet parts.

I am a great fan of palm mute thump when doing live jobs when I'm dealing with a musician or band without bass or drums. The thump fills the lower end of the spectrum very nicely for me.
