GATE GATE GATE!
-Use a synth to generate a 40hz-ish sine wave
-Run the synth signal through a gate
-Sidechain your BD signal to open the gate
-Set attack ms to fastest possible setting
-Release at around 400ms or however long you want the "boooom" to be
-HAVE FUN WITH THIS!
If you have a Yamaha digital board...
-Use the "freeze" effect to capture the wave
-Set Start - End time (samples)
-Set levels
This is a cool trick!

Well, if you're using a drum machine, the sound you want is probably on there already.
(from what I interpret, that is a popular sound)
If not, ya can just use one of the BD samples from the drum machine to trigger the gate.
