I've been wondering this for quite some time...
I play my stuff in dropped C, and well... that puts the bass pretty low. I'm usually really good with tuning, but when bass gets that low it gets to be a pain to hear what the exact pitch is. Now, I have a Crate GLX 1200 head and Crate Excalibur 4X12 cab, and the head has a built in chromatic tuner. I'd much like to tune my bass on that amp, seeing as it has a mute button, but I don't knwo whether even when muted, the bass could screw up the amp. no sound would come through, but I dunno if the waves or whatever themselves could do something inside.
