Bass Tapping Rumble!!!!

OK, here it is, in reference to this thread:

I am too busy to come up with my own backing track, so we'll steal apl's track from his last RUMBLE! :D

There are three rules this time, sorry I know that's one more than the usual two:

1) You have to use the backing track in some manner. Shifting pitch, tempo, editing, etc., it's all good as long as the source is the backing track. There is no specific length requirement.

2) this is the special rule for this RUMBLE!: The soloing must consistent of only bass tapping, bass harmonics, and bass chords. No slap 'n' tickle, pluck, pop, or anything else that is not tapping, harmonics, or chords allowed! If you break this rule . . . . you will suffer the consequence of my derision!

3) Traditionally, the winner is determined by arguing! That also applies to the interpretation of rules #1 and #2!

I have my bass and access to the church sound system....

Dude that will kick ass! Crank the bass through the sound system, and set up a mic in the middle of the sanctuary! :D

Well just in case it wasn't clear that rule #2 was tongue-in-cheek . . . it doesn't have to be ALL tapping :D really anything played on a bass instrument is good . . . tuba, bassoon, kick drum . . . whatever you got ;)

But it would be nice to hear those right hands (or left if you're goofy) on those fingerboards :cool:

Tapping (also known as fingertapping) is a fast playing technique generally associated with electric guitar (although the technique may be performed on almost any string instrument). It may be considered an extended technique. Tapping is executed by using the fingers of one hand to "tap" the strings against the fingerboard, sounding notes.

The NS/Stick and Warr guitar are also built for tapping, though not exclusively. Both instruments use lower string tension and low action to increase the string's sensitivity to lighter tapping.

There are two main methods of tapping: one-handed or "ordinary" tapping, and two-handed tapping.

Does your definition of "tapping" include the gratuitous hammer-ons and pull-offs that follow the tap, or am I only allowed to "tap?"
 
Hey apl, the bass on that track is stickin' out a bit much . . . . you got any other presets? :D


Edit: never mind, a low cut at 100Hz seems to do the trick :)

I've been working on some tapping...but I made it almost 20 seconds before really blowing up. :mad:
