Hey guys. I'm thinking about getting a bass pob but they're a little out of my price range right now. Does anyone know of anything else that has good amp modeling? I don't care about the effects on them i've already got that covered. I just want something i can use as a DI that has a good amount of nice amp models

thanks

I'll second the J-station. It is much cheaper than a POD, and has a few bass models in it, cabinets and DI too. Plus, it is a great guitar amp emulator.

thanks Wide. I'm thinking it might work. I'll try to go to GC or somewhere and check one out. I've had some luck with proccessors that are made for guitar on a bass but not a whole lot. The price is much easier to handle for me right now though.
thanks again

cstock
yeah maybe i could use a guitar modeler too. I don't play that well. Single note stuff i'm not bad at.
Thanks

do they have a date for that being released? Behringer though... i'd have to try that first.

thanks

I've only heard second quarter 2003.

2nd Quarter '03 is what their website says, but many times those release dates get pushed back quite a few weeks or months (BTW, it's already 2nd quarter). Again, it's a Behringer, so make sure you try it out; although judging by the V-amp this should have more than decent modeling.

Yep. I'd pretty much guarantee that it has all the same amps and cabs modeled as the bass pod. And oddly, they will all sound the same too.

And probably the same shape.

yeah behringer, that's what i was thinking too guys. I might go with the j-station. It only has 3 bass amps though. Maybe i'll just keep looking and try to find a used pod. Thanks for your help guys

Once you download the updates for the J there are a few more bass amps. I don't remember how many off the top of my head, but there are others.

Oh hey that's cool. I must've overlooked that part about downloading extra sounds.

Has anyone here used the J for a Bass?

I have a little but, I'm not a bass player. I just think that it's cool that you can do two jobs with the same unit. But, if you don't play guitar as well you might be better off with something that's designed for bass exclusively.

yeah thats what i was thinking too. But being a bass player who likes pedals i've had to resort to a few made for guitar effects. Most of whom with enough tweaking have turned out... descent. There's just some though... Maybe i'll go to GC and try one out.
thanks firebird

I haven't really compared the bass models in the J to the real things, but I have found some good bass tones out of the bass amps that are in the unit, and the effects in the J are great too. Personally, I think the compressor is fantastic, great plate reverbs, good delay, and the envelope filter is great on bass. I doubt it is as good as the Bass pod (seeing as that is exclusively for bass), but in our recordings I have been really happy with the bass sound we are getting.
