Here's the situation:

I already have a Boss ODB-3 but the keyboardist in my band uses it all the time for distorted electric piano. I kind of want some OD for my bass but am not sure what to get. I'm looking for something with a more mellow, relaxed OD with nice tube warmth. I don't want a "wall of metal fuzz" pedal like the ODB-3. After a bit of research, the Capitalist Pig by AMT looks really nice:

It sounds just like what I'm looking for. Has anyone played one? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Any other pedals you guys think i might like? Just for the record, I'm running a Fender Deluxe Active P bass Special into two combo amps (both solid state), a 1x12 Fender and a 1x15 Peavey.

So, fire away. I'm interested in what you have to say. Thanks!

The BDI21 can dial in warmth & drive amongst other things & is so cheap it won't matter if you're not 100% happy.

Tell the keys guy to get his own d--m gear!

Don't know what Peavey you are running, but if you can handle lower power (these days, 150 watts qualifies as "low!") find and audition a Peavey TNT150. I recently scored one. On-board bass distortion via post and pre gain, both wide- and narrow EQ, 'bright' and 'punch' buttons, on-board chorus channel, line-level out WITH CROSSOVER, foot switch for channel switching, even a block diagram on the back for easy refference. Some come with a Black Widow speaker (mine has that). The crossover/line-out was primarily intended for a powered slave cab, but could be used to go to the house mix, too, as it has two outs.

Im not a bassist but I will second the fulltone Bass Drive. My bassist has one in his rig that he uses all the time. They are a little pricey but they can do anything from light overdrive to full on metal distortion and it retains the lows/highs of the bass fairly well. Another cheaper option is the EH Russian Big Muff (large black one). It does some pretty killer bass tones but you have to get it set just right or the low end boost sounds ridiculous.
