hullo :) my friend was asking me about speaker replacements for a bass cab. i didn't know how to answer his question, so i thought i'd pop his email onto the forum to see if any one else knows :) ta!

I had an Eminence delta pro 800w 15" speaker which was at the time, not being used.

I decided to try it in a Hartke VX115 Bass cabinet by replacing the existing
speaker. The cabinet also has a treble speaker.

VX115:

"One 15" proprietary driver
One horn loaded high frequency transducer
Power Handling: 300 Watts @ 8 Ohms"

The speakers are both 8 ohms but the eminence is an 800w speaker while the original was 300w.

Will the difference in Wattage effect/damage the onboard setup (assuming there is one) which devides the signal to the speakers (horn & 15") within the hartke cabinet?

Or damage anything in another way?!

Thanks

Andy

That speaker will be fine Andy. Wattage is just the power rating for the speakers coil. Using lower wattage speakers, the coil will be underrated and burn up when fully loaded by the amplifier. Using higher wattage speakers are fine.

Impedance matching is most important. (ohms) If the amp requires an 8 ohm speaker then you must use an 8 ohm speaker, etc.

cool, thanks for the help!

i can't wait to hear this thing now!

Ta!

Andy.
