...I think most of that comes down to them having different stings, different pickups and even differently set preamp EQs. They are such different monsters, but perfect for each job they are best at.


Same with the woods chosen, the quality of the glued joints, whether it has a bolt-on neck or a glued neck, whether the strings are anchored to the bridge or through the body, SOOO many variables.

Hell, you can order two instruments, constructed of the same types of woods, same parts and electronics, same construction methods, and STILL have two different sounding and playing and feeling instruments!
 
The Ampeg B15 is a studio standard. They are a bit hard to find but they did do a reissue of them a few years back never heard the reissues but the originals are freaking awesome!
