Basics of recording II

As newbie, I have some questions about what shall I use in my songs.

My set up:
- S5000 with 72MB RAM
- E-mu Audity 2000
- Korg MS2000
- MC 505
- Korg Wavestation A/D
- Novation BassStation
- Yamaha DX7
- Behringer mixer + Berhinger Compressor
- G3 300 b/w with Audiomedia III and Logic Audio 4.5., etc

First, I would precise that I'm composing techno music (house, industrial and trance style)

I remarked that I have a bad reflex to want to put too many instruments/sounds at the same time into my songs.

Please give some suggestions how to STRUCTURE my songs.

How to use which machine for which application (for exemple only use the rythme part of the MC 505 and the Audity 2000 as lead synth. and an other synth for the bass).

Many thanks in advance for your tips !

This is a bit of a tough one. What instrument you use in what song is up to you, right? - don't want someone else to write it for you. I would have to hear the music before suggesting this over that. I probably don't understand the question... elaborate.

well stocky, you as a musician are the one who knows whats going to fit where .... Not always must a bass and drums be your rythm... We use to play a lot of acoustic stuff and when i looked at the songs they were still made up of a rythm section, lead ......etc but they were just played on something u might not usually expect to be playing that particular section.... does that make sense ?? an example might be instead of a lead guit. (sorry this is probly very different music to what your refering to, but its all nuts and bolts... listen to chopin , bet u can find a song structure that u might know) we might have used a harminica.. Basically all im saying , and i believe emeric was somewhat refering to this very same point, is that music is made by the individuals who compose it , they dont sit there and read a text book that says they have to use that korg workstation as your lead synth... cos basically for the song that might not be whats required.. Just get to know your instruments and what there capable of and soon enough youll know what each piece is really good at doing for a given piece of music.. I hope that makes sense , and sorry i couldnt answer your question ... mmm , or did I....
