I have a Yamaha QY700 sequencer and a laptop IBM. I have made some songs on the Yamaha QY700. I would like to get those songs into the IBM to mix down with vocals, then burn them onto CD.

My questions are:
1) How do I get the songs from the sequencer onto the IBM? Do I use the Line-In on a Soundcard, or can I transfer the songs using MIDI? (and does that mean i need a USB-MIDI interface??)

2) What kind of software program do I need to install on my IBM in order to do this? (Like Reason, n-track, Cakewalk?? etc??)

3) Which software program can handle vocals recorded through a soundcard?

Thanks for the help.

You can use the audio ins on the soundcard but you will have the worst quality possible plugging straight into the laptop. You would be better off with an external USB sound card that fits your budget.

N-track or CoolEditPro are good audio multi tracks programs. If you want to do midi and audio then get Sonar(used to be called Cakewalk).

MIDI is not audio. Look around the midi forum and somebody will have a link to a good midi primer.
