Hi,

I have recently installed SONAR 4 on my computer and I've been having issues with MIDI. It just won't play!

I tried importing a MIDI drum track and the program read it, but no sound came out. I tried fiddling with MIDI preferences, but nothing worked.

I have a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard.

In the MIDI configuration of SONAR, I only have one choice of input (Delta AP MIDI) and two for outputs (Delta AP MIDI and Microsoft Mapper). If I select Microsoft mapper, it tells me that I don't have a MIDI out.

I'm guessing there is a simple solution for this, but I'm pretty much a neophyte in those matters.

Thanks!

Is it not possible to sequence MIDI without having a MIDI controller?

I'll be getting one in a few weeks, but I was wondering if I can do anything without it.

Yes, you can.
I spent almost one year sequencing them before I got myself a controler
Although I don't use Sonar, I'm pretty sure you can easily do it

The M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard does not have a synth module. It will not play midi files. You need to send the midi signal to a sound module or a different soundcard that does have a soft synth.
I've been sequencing complete songs in Sonar without a controller. It can be time-consuming, but I love every minute of it. You have ABSOLUTE control of every note! Check out my stuff at http://www.dingletones.com everything done in piano roll view with just the mouse!
